SE Workshop “The Faces of Fawn/Please/Appease” – SE tools and techniques
While the freeze response has been acknowledged and studied as a survival mechanism for the
last several decades, it is only more recently that fawn/please/appease has gained recognition as
a possible subcategory of freeze.
In this 4-hour in-person workshop we’ll talk about and learn to work with the fawn response,
also known as the please/appease response. This is a powerful and effective survival strategy
with many faces and is formed early in life to manage complex trauma. As such it is complex to
work with.
We’ll look at the physiology of the Fawn response to the extent that we know it and use SE tools
and techniques to notice how it shows up in our clients, how to detect and address it, and how to
work with the nervous system to allow for more choice over time.
This workshop will be interactive and will include a demo with a participant volunteer.
Bring yourselves, your questions, and let’s discuss!
